Prevention Through Service Alliance

Welcome to
AMVETS
"We Fought Together, Now Let's Build Together"
The AMVETS Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse (AADAA) program has two components. The AMVETS National Programs Department administers annually, a drug prevention and awareness related Essay/Poem and Poster contest that is age appropriate and grade specific. The local AMVETS posts are encouraged to serve as a referral service for existing alcohol abuse and other drug education programs in their communities. Service to country does not end on discharge as AMVETS members in more than 1,400 posts across the country provide a wealth of community service that enhances the quality of life for their families, their neighbors and other American citizens. Through programs tested and executed at the local level — where our members play a particularly effective role as community organizers and coordinators — countless hours are devoted to a variety of services that are making a difference in people’s lives. In addition to the AADAA program, AMVETS coordinates and administers a number of other programs on the national level as well as endorsing many other worthwhile community programs. The terrain may be different in the local battles within our communities, but these battles are as important as any we have ever waged. AMVETS has served and will continue to serve because they care deeply about their country and its future.
