National Masonic Foundations for Children

"...because the best treament is prevention"

The National Masonic Foundation for Children seeks to promote programs in schools, particularly the Masonic Model Student Assistance Program (MMSAP), to prevent addiction before it takes hold, and to help the youth of this country lead productive, useful, and healthy lives. More than 32,000 educators have attended Masonic Model training which has resulted in more than half a million schoolchildren being successfully referred to, and helped by, this program. MMSAP is our flagship program. Freemasonry offers this distinct student assistance program to serve communities throughout the country in the belief that prevention is the most effective tool for combating the scourge of addiction. MMSAP involves practice sessions designed to simulate real events along with presentations on such subjects as Chemical Dependency, Depression and Suicide, Conflict, Anger and Violence, Communication Skills and Intervention, Family Dynamics, Enabling, Life Skills Development and Group Process. Participants leave the training with a specific plan for behavioral interventions, and a system for implementing MMSAP in their schools. The Masonic Life Skills Youth Camp is a one-week summer camp program designed to emphasize the essential principles of Respect, Responsibility and Relationships -- the three Rs for a successful life.
