"Building Strong Families"

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a worldwide religion serving in 162 counties worldwide. The Church has over 12 million members, more than half of whom live outside the United States. The family is central to God's plan for us. Our families provide a setting for much of the growth we experience in life. Family home evening is a special time set aside each week that brings family members together and strengthens their love for each other, helps them draw closer to Heavenly Father, and encourages them to live righteously. We understand that one of the greatest gifts from our Heavenly Father is the physical body each of us has. He has given us a law of health to help us care for the body, because it is a temple to house the spirit. The Word of Wisdom given to all youth and adult members to observe warns us against the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other harmful kinds of drugs. We provide a number of programs and activities to help young people looking for guidance on how to live in today’s world, or for a parent or leader wondering how to help youth. Youth are provided opportunities to gather together in a safe, wholesome setting with others who share their standards and beliefs. Mutualis where young men and young women practice gospel principles, prepare for their future, reach out to those who are less active, give service, and have fun. To help our teenager members to make the right choices in life they are given the opportunity to earn the Duty for God or Personal Progress awards. The Church sponsors more Scouts and Scouting units in the United States than any other organization.
