Junior International Chamber
"Worldwide Federation of Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs"
Junior Chamber International (JCI), Inc., is a worldwide federation of young professionals and entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40. National Organizations federated to JCI are active in more than 6,000 chapters located in more than 100 nations and territories. The mission of JCI is to contribute to the advancement of the global community by providing the opportunity for young people to develop the leadership skills, social responsibility, fellowship, and entrepreneurship necessary to create positive change. JCI was founded in Mexico City on December 11, 1944, when representatives from eight nations met to create an organization that would address global concerns. From these eight nations, JCI has grown spanning every continent to include more than 100 nations. In June 2004, JCI was elected as one of the six members of UNICEF's Executive Committee. UNICEF influences decision-makers and the variety of partners at grassroots level to improve children's lives worldwide and, especially, in developing countries. JCI is associated with the NGO Committee on UNICEF. JCI has been actively working with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) since 1994 by implementing cooperation agreements focusing on children. These agreements have been signed by Latin American National Organizations.
