National PTA

"Every Child, One Voice"

National PTA is the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the United States. PTA has 6 million members working in 26,000 local PTAs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Department of Defense schools in the Pacific and Europe. A not-for-profit association of parents, educators, students, and other citizens active in their schools and communities, PTA is a leader in reminding our nation of its obligations to children. Children's health and safety have always been priorities of National PTA. Health and Safety covers topics and issues from AIDS education to maintaining the environment to keeping children safe on the streets and on the Internet. The use of alcohol and other drugs among young people is a growing concern. Fortunately, parents can take an active role in lowering their children's risk and helping them grow up substance-free. Whether you're a parent, a caregiver, a PTA or community leader, you need effective ideas and materials. Explore the resources offered on our website. Finding Answers for Your Children's Difficult Questions is a resource available when your children ask challenging questions about cigarettes, alcohol and other drugs, this is an ideal opportunity for an honest face-to-face discussion about important issues. To help you, this activity offers questions children often ask, with answers suggested by the Common Sense Visiting Experts. Common Sense Strategies for Raising Alcohol & Drug Free Children are also provided as a resource to parents. Everything you do can make a real difference in the lives of children.
