With more than 1.1 million members in more than 2,100 local lodges nationwide, the Elks are one of the largest and most active fraternal organizations in the world! The Elks sponsor a number of programs and activities for our nation's youth both the nationally and by local Elks lodges. The Elks Drug EducationProgram is just one of the Elks National Foundation's programs dedicated to helping our youth through different activities. The Elks Drug Awareness Program has worked to prevent drug use by our youth through education. The Elks recognize that they are not experts in the field of drug education. However, we do have the resources -- in dollars, facilities and volunteers -- to work with the experts to ensure that young people know the facts about drugs. In addition to sponsoring seminars, workshops and drug-free functions, we print and distribute literature developed by authorities on drug awareness. We've printed and handed out more than 125 million pieces of literature to students, their teachers and their parents. We hope that through our Resource Center, we can reach even more people. You have our permission to print and distribute this material. The 1.1 million families that are Elk members are united in the single dream that our children should be raised in a drug free environment and we are dedicated to make that dream a reality. The Elks Drug Awareness Program has teamed with The Drug Enforcement Administration; The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy: PRIDE: Drug Free America and CADCA just to name a few.
