Welcome to
Mothers Against Drunk Driving
"The Voice of the Victim"
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is a grass roots organization with more than 600 chapters nationwide. MADD’s mission is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking. As a grassroots organization, volunteers are truly the heart and soul of MADD. MADD's National Programs Department specializes in developing and maintaining public awareness programs at the chapter, state, and national level, involving the community as a whole in supporting MADD's mission. The department continually looks for new ways for MADD to reach a diverse population, with particular attention focused on helping youth. Young people have been an important part of our focus. MADD sponsors national programs that empower young people to become advocates for a better, safer future. National programs sponsored by MADD include: the "Protecting You / Protecting Me" classroom educational curriculum, Multimedia Shows for elementary, middle, and high school students; Youth In Action training program on how to implement projects designed to limit youth access to alcohol; youth leadership summer Power Camps to help students develop advocacy skills, interact with other teen leaders and learn how to design changes to make a difference in their schools and communities; AlcoholEdu for High School, a science-based, non-opinionated online course that teaches youth about alcohol, its effects on the body, and its place in high school culture; and, UMADD is a university, campus-based student chapter of MADD comprised of student leaders concerned about underage and high-risk drinking, impaired driving and dedicated to finding solutions.
